April 25, 2017 at the seat of the National Electoral Commission in Warsaw at ul. Wiejska 10, the central stage of the prestigious Knowledge about Electoral Law competition took place. Chairman of the PKW prof. dr hab. Wojciech Hermeliński, speaking to the finalists of the competition and their supervisors, referred to the problem of voter turnout, expressing the hope that: “the state, as future voters, young, active citizens, members of civil society, which is one of the pillars of democracy, will slowly the aid of the voting card “.
The 6th High School was represented by a student of IC class, Patryk Brózda, who was in the exclusive group of 21 finalists of the competition, selected from over 4.5 thousand participants from all over Poland. In order to reach the central stage, our student had to take a test of knowledge of electoral law and score at least 22 points out of 25 possible. In the second stage, the participants had to write a thesis on one of three topics concerning the history and the present day of elections and electoral law. Our player wrote a thesis on e-voting, i.e. electronic voting, analyzing its advantages and disadvantages. During the central stage, Patryk Brózda answered three randomly selected questions of various difficulty levels.
As emphasized at the end of the competition by the President of the Polish Military Contingent, prof. dr hab. Wojciech Hermeliński: “the level of the competition was so high that the Committee had a problem with selecting the winners today.” There should be 21 first places “.
