December 13 is a special date – the 38th anniversary of the introduction of martial law in Poland. Class 1c honored the memory of the people who were then murdered, who were interned and harassed in the fight for a free and democratic homeland, by participating in a music and educational project organized by the deputy office of Ireneusz Ras.
The event included: films dedicated to the strike of employees of Huta im. Lenin in 1988 and the removal of the monument to the leader of the revolution from Aleja Róż in Nowa Huta, a concert by Opera Nowohucka 2.0 and a meeting with the activists of the Solidarity Trade Union, Mr. Stanisław Handzlik, Edward Nowak, and the founder of the underground association Federation of Fighting Youth in Krakow, Mr. Piotr Fugiel.
During the concert, he performed, among others. the bard of Solidarity, Mr. Leszek Wójtowicz, and songs by Jacek Kaczmarski by Marcin “Bzyk” Bąk and Kuba Kawalec in modern, youth arrangements. The most touching part of the project, however, was the meeting with the “living” history, that is, the people to whom we owe the overthrow of the totalitarian system in Poland. They talked about the fight against communism, about methods, small sabotage, repression during martial law, and encouraged people to always stand on the side of values such as freedom and solidarity, and fight for them when necessary. A strong final accent was the answer to the question asked by the young man “Would they fight again if there was a need?” – they said YES without hesitation. The involuntary association with the heroes of A. Kamiński’s novel “Kamienie na szaniec” came to mind.a
