School chronicle – 2013/2014 – March – April

IV Table Tennis Tournament for Secondary Schools from the Śródmieście District – 12/03/2014.

On March 12, 2014, the 4th Table Tennis Tournament for Secondary Schools from the Śródmieście district took place in our school. The event was organized by the High School No. 6 in Krakow and the City Guard of the City of Krakow. We hosted secondary school students from Districts I, II, III. The matches were played by the best players of Secondary School No. 2, Secondary School No. 8, Secondary School No. 13, ZSO No. 9, ZSE No. 1, ZSM No. 1, ZSM No. 10 and of course No. 6 Secondary School. Teachers of Secondary School No. 6 and the Municipal Police supervised the proper course of the event. Individual matches were judged by students of High School No. 6. There was a fierce fight from the very beginning. The boys’ match between the 2nd High School student, Szymon Zych, and the student of ZSM No. 1, Piotr Rysio, provided the most emotions. VI LO was represented by:
Małgorzata Kopytek, Marta Sułkowska, Daniel Chmielewski, Klaudiusz Adamczyk

In the total classification of the VI LO, it took 4th place.

PE program with class – February 28, 2014

On February 28, 2014 our school was accepted into the “PE with Class” program.

“PE with the class” is a program of the Center for Civic Education implemented with the support of “Gazeta Wyborcza” and the portal Sport.pl. The activities are financed by the Ministry of Sport and Tourism. The program is under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Sport and Tourism and the Minister of National Education.

 

Visit of students from Beit Berl College from Israel – March 11, 2014.

On Tuesday, March 11, 2014, we had the pleasure of hosting a group of students and academic teachers from Beit Berl College in Israel. It was a unique opportunity to introduce our countries to each other, tell about the places we live and discuss history and the present. The visit ended with students from class 1A2 showing the guests around the school.

On Wednesday, March 12 at On 12, we were visited by Mrs. Charity Boyette – head of the administrative section of the US Consulate in Krakow. She presented the prizes to the winners of the knowledge about the USA and gave a short lecture entitled “Outstanding American women”. All bilingual classes with English participated in the meeting.

Lecture “Outstanding American Women” – March 12, 2014

Our high school was visited by Mrs. Charity Boyette, who is the head of the administrative section of the US Consulate in Krakow. Mrs. Boyette gave a lecture entitled “Outstanding American Women”, attended by students of all bilingual classes from English. English from our school. During the meeting, she also presented prizes to the winners of the US knowledge competition, which was organized in cooperation with the US Consulate in Krakow.

Workshop of elementary particles – March 13, 2014

The workshop was organized by the Institute of Nuclear Physics in Kraków, Secondary School No. 5. Our school was represented by students: Maksymilian Śnieżek (1d), Maciej Guziec, Krzysztof Sitko, Natan Trętko, Szymon Trela, Bartosz Zieliński (2d) under the supervision of Bożena Arendt, MA.

During the whole day, there was a lecture, workshops based on data from CERN and a summarizing video conference of students from Poland, Portugal and Germany with CERN employees.

 

X Krakow Youth Festival of French Song – March 14, 2014

The Krakow Youth French Song Festival has been attracting French song lovers from all over Poland for ten years. Organized by Mrs. Aneta Wojtaszek, a French teacher at the VI Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. A. Mickiewicz in Krakow and addressed to young people from 6 to 26 years of age, it aims to popularize the song and culture of French-speaking countries.

This time, during the festival auditions on March 14, 2014, 59 students from many Polish cities, including Konin, Łańcut, Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, Bytom, Katowice, Chrzanów, Sosnowiec, Olkusz, Limanowa and, of course, Krakow presented themselves on the stage of the Aula high school. .

From among young performers divided into four age categories, the Jury selected 29 finalists, who on May 30, 2014 will take part in the final qualifiers on the stage of the Dom Kultury im. A. Dormitory in Krakow.

The jury was composed of: Alain Schneider, representative of the General Consulate of France, Leszek Poznański, president of the Krakow branch of TPPF, Bożena Barwińska, director of the Grand Prix Festival Office Edith Piaf, Anna Miśkowiec, musician, Mieczysław Zembroń, Romanist, and Aneta Wojtaszek. The meeting was chaired by Mrs. Alicja Fanderowska.

The main prize, the Grand Prix, which will be presented on May 30, was funded by the Mayor of the City of Krakow. The sponsors of the remaining awards are the French Institute, the Polish-French Friendship Society, the Bookshop of the French-language Publishing House “Edukator” and the Parents’ Council of the VI Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. A. Mickiewicz in Krakow.

took part in the finals of the 2nd Małopolska Entrepreneurship Tournament organized by Wyższa Szkoła Zarządzania / Polish Open University and VII LO im. Zofia Nałkowska.
The theme of this year’s tournament was: “Become a Business Einstein – an innovative idea for a company”.

The team presented the Daremny Trud company, which exports spare parts for rolling stock to Russia. The girls took the fourth place and received a distinction and special awards: invitations to training from Capgemini Polska Sp. z o.o. and material prizes from Capgemini Polska Sp. z o.o.,

Our students are laureates of the 11th Krakow Secondary School of Debates – 17.03.2014

The final of the 11th edition of the Debate School took place on March 17, 2014 in the Debate Room of the Krakow Magistrate. The task of our high school team consisting of: Piotr Regdos (1H), Karol Kruk (2H) and Bartłomiej Janiczak (2H) was to defend a difficult thesis – “Honor is a value unnecessary in today’s world”. For several years, none of the proposed teams has won the final oratorical battle. Orators from the Sixth managed this task, defeating II Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. King Jan III Sobieski.

The main prize is a trip to the Sejm of the Republic of Poland in Warsaw, funded by MP Bogusław Sonik, and a “wild card”, i.e. automatic promotion to the final of the Polish Oxford Debate Championship, which will take place on April 9, 2014 in Poznań.

Class 2a2 visit at the US Consulate – March 31, 2014

Class 2a2 and prof. Agnieszka Batko visited the US Consulate in Krakow, where they participated in a lecture on Polish-American diplomatic relations, entitled “US-Poland Bilateral Relationship”. After the lecture, students also had the opportunity to talk and ask questions to the consul. The meeting was held in English.

Presentation of new fields of study at AGH – April 2, 2014

In the lecture hall of the high school, Dr. Robert Szczygieł presented new possibilities of studying interesting fields at AGH.

Musical “Aida” -4.04.2014.

“Modern times. While visiting the Egyptian exhibition in the museum, the man and woman glance meet for a moment. Amneris, the pharaoh woman, awakens to life and transports us to ancient Egypt. Radames, captain of the Egyptian troops, returns from a plundering expedition to the land of Nubia – the ancient enemy of Egypt. When his soldiers take a group of Nubian women captive, Radames discovers that he has succumbed to one of them – the brave and majestic Aida … “

Class 2a2 together with prof. Agnieszka Batko was a guest at the State Higher Theater School Ludwik Solski in Krakow based on the musical “Aida”, based on Giuseppe Verdi’s opera. A dance show, a pop-rock concert with music by Elton John and Tim Rice, is a modern version of the classic story of a timeless feeling that brought together a captured Nubian princess and an Egyptian soldier. The musical was staged in English. The main roles were played by students of the British International School of Cracow.

Know America competition – April 7-10, 2014

On April 7-10, 2014, the winners and finalists of the Know America competition visited Warsaw.
Gabriela Mermon from Secondary School No. 6 in Krakow was among the winners for the second time.

The competition is organized by the US Embassy in Poland, Collegium Civitas of the University of Warsaw and the Rural Development Foundation.

The prize for all the winners and finalists was a visit to Warsaw, full of attractions, including a performance at the National Theater, entitled “Reckless Sister”, a visit to the Warsaw Fotoplastikon, a tour of Warsaw in the footsteps of the Warsaw Ghetto and a visit to the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, as well as to the Museum of Contemporary Art and the American School of Warsaw.

The biggest attraction, however, was the award ceremony itself, which took place during a gala lunch at the residence of the US Ambassador to Poland, Stephen Mull. During lunch, each of the invited guests had the opportunity to talk with the Ambassador and employees of the embassy.

All laureates and finalists received diplomas printed on paper imitating the US Declaration of Independence, and interesting book prizes, on which they could receive a personal dedication from the Ambassador.

The Sports Round Table – April 8, 2014

On April 8, 2014, the Sports Round Table took place at our school. Representatives of the school community participated in the debate on the improvement of sports and recreational activities in the school. Together with the Principal, we started a dialogue with students and asked a few questions about students’ motivation to take lessons, exemptions from PE, what is the meaning of movement in life, what they like in lessons, and what should be changed …
We carefully followed the statements of our pupils.
Thank you for any suggestions and opinions about our work. We will make every effort to ensure that young people willingly participate in physical education lessons.

OPEN DAY FOR MIDDLE STUDENTS – April 12, 2014

PROSCENIUM THEATER NOMINATED FOR THE PRIZE OF THE XXXIV MAŁOPOLSKA ARTISTIC FESTIVAL OF YOUTH (FAM)

On April 10, the Proscenium Theater took part in the Małopolska Youth Art Festival, staging the play “We don’t want to run away from here”. The jury of the theater review composed of: Józefa Zając: director and lecturer at the State Higher School of Theater in Krakow
Anna Piróg – Karaszkiewicz: film and theater actress, Andrzej Franczyk: theater actor awarded our theater troupe a nomination for the award. The announcement of the final verdict, the award ceremony and presentations of selected festival proposals will take place during the FESTIVAL GALA at the GROTESKA Theater, April 28 / Monday / at 17.oo. We keep our fingers crossed for our actors!

The performance was based on selected works by Adam Mickiewicz (Romantyczny, Rybka, Lilije, 3rd part. Dziady, 4th part. Dziady), a fragment of Witold Gombrowicz’s Ferdydurke; songs by Jacek Kaczmarski (And we don’t want to run away – composer: Przemysław Gintrowski, Mury – composer: Lluis Llach), Agnieszka Osiecka (Madman dances – composer: Seweryn Krajewski).

PROSCENIUM THEATER AWARDED IN YOUTH THEATER PRESENTATIONS THEATER OF MY DREAMS

On April 11, at the Scena Miniatura Teatr im. Juliusz Słowacki in Krakow, the final of the XXV Youth Theater Presentations “The Theater of My Dreams”, organized by Centrum Młodzieży im. dr. H. Jordan. Youth Theater Presentations, taking place in Krakow for the twenty-fifth time, are aimed at enabling young people to present their original theatrical achievements. The formula is open: the organizers do not suggest either the subject or the form of expression, allowing for short drama adaptations, poetry montages, author’s performances, and productions referring to cabaret or song theater.

The Proscenium Theater has been participating in the Review for many years, this time the jury: Anna Piróg-Karaszkiewicz and Krzysztof Bochenek awarded the performance “We don’t want to run away from here” with a distinction.

Students of High School No. 6 – Ewa Raszpunda (2c) and Maciej Reguła (1c) were the best in the provincial qualifiers. Students of film classes won the first place among teams from all over Małopolska and entered the final of the 25th National Film Knowledge Competition.

Lecture by Dr. Aleksandra Wagner from the Institute of Sociology of the Jagiellonian University – April 23, 2014.

On April 23, 2013, the VI Lyceum hosted Dr. Aleksandra Wagner from the Institute of Sociology of the Jagiellonian University. Grades 2A / I, 2F and 2G implementing an extended curriculum of knowledge about society listened to a lecture entitled “There is only the future. And it is just not there. Sociological considerations about the future.”

Pilgrimage of high school graduates – April 24, 2014

On April 24, 2014, high school students along with teachers and tutors made a pilgrimage to Częstochowa to ask for all necessary favors in front of the painting of Our Lady of Jasna Góra. After arriving at Jasna Góra, high school graduates participated in the Way of the Cross Devotion, and then went to the Miraculous Image Chapel, where they participated in the Holy Mass. celebrated for them by catechist priests.

Visit to the Cervantes Institute – April 23, 2014

April 23 is recognized as World Book and Copyright Day. It is an official holiday in Spain and in Spanish-speaking countries. In addition, in Catalonia, this day is widely celebrated as the day of the patron saint – St. George.

On this occasion, the group led by Małgorzata Michalska-Derlatka went to the Cervantes Institute at ul. Kanonicza. At the beginning, we participated in an exhibition on the life and work of the Spanish novelist Miguel Delibes. Fragments of his works have been depicted with the works of 15 illustrators. After seeing the exhibition, we went to the reading room, where each of us could read a fragment of Don Quixote – a work by Cervantes, in the original and translated.

Everyone liked the fact that we could get to know another part of the Spanish culture, and we hope to return to the Cervantes Institute.

Earth Day – April 23, 2014

On April 23, 2014, we celebrated Earth Day at school.

Grades 1a1, 1b1, 1b2, 2b, 2a2 listened to two lectures.

Then the first classes took part in workshops. Posters were prepared in the groups, encouraging them to donate 1% of their tax to protect the brown bear in Poland. The works performed took part in the competition. The winners received prizes.

End of the school year of secondary school-leaving classes – April 25, 2014

Chestnuts have bloomed, there are no traffic jams in the corridors of the number six, it means that high school graduates have left the school walls. We said goodbye to this year’s graduates in a solemn but family atmosphere.

We were honored by the presence of Mr. Aleksander Palczewski – Małopolska Superintendent of Education, Mrs. Magdalena Bassara – councilor of the City of Krakow, representing the Chairman of the City Council of Krakow. In the official part, our honorable guests, Headmaster Czesław Wróbel and the Chairman of the Student Council – Bartłomiej Janiczak, took the floor, while Deputy Director Dorota Ochwat read a letter sent by the Chairperson of the Parents’ Council – Ms Maria Kieruzal.

Mr. Aleksander Palczewski, Mrs. Magdalena Bassara and Mr. Czesław Wróbel, Director, presented this year’s graduates of our Lyceum with citizens’ packages prepared by the National Pantheon Foundation. We hope that copies of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland, national flags and the words of the national anthem will accompany six people in their adult lives.

We ended the ceremony with an extraordinary performance of the song Days We Do Not Know Yet – the song was sung especially for high school graduates by: Prof. Marlena Maciejewska and Mrs. prof. Katarzyna Płaza.
