The Oxford language debate took place on Friday, February 21 this year, during the International Mother Language Day. The representatives debated around three previously appointed theses:

  1. Diacritical marks in communication, especially internet communication, should be abolished.
  2. Borrowings from other languages, especially English, develop the mother tongue.
  3. In communication, we express much more with an emote than with words.

We had a great time!

PS. We also cordially invite you to the Oxford Debates circle. Classes are held every Wednesday at 17.

2018/2019 school year

The season of debating struggles has begun. In the National Oxford Debate Tournament Juliusz Lea in fierce, sometimes fratricidal, battles with one of the teams from High School No. 6 won the third place. The following were successful: Aleksandra Długosz (1a3), Anna Kurdoń (1a3), Gabriela Palusińska (2f) and Julia Szczurek (2f). Congratulations are due all the more because for some of the team members it was the first meeting with this format.

Our debating team, consisting of: Oskar Krasoń (3f), Szymon Turcza-Jurczyński (3f), Michał Górka (3g) and Kajetan Leśniak (2h1), won the title of Polish Champion in Oxford Debates!

75 teams took part in the competition, 300 players from all over Poland worked hard to prove their right in oratorical duels. The VILO team – supported by our graduate, Bartłomiej Janiczak – turned out to be unrivaled.

In the grand finale, the contestants faced the thesis: “It is better to behead an innocent than to hesitate in war”, which the team from Krakow successfully proved to be unfounded by defeating the 2nd High School in Konin and thus winning the title of POLISH CHAMPION IN THE OKSFORD DEBATES!
