Italian Culture and Language Day – January 7, 2016

On January 7, once again the Day of Italian Culture and Language was held in our school. Students from grades 1 and 2 who are learning this beautiful language took part in the ceremony. The theme of this year’s edition was history in its many forms. And so, Krzysztof Iszczuk from the 2a1 class told about the Polish-Italian history, dating back to ancient times, and the fate of fighters fighting together for the freedom of Poland and Italy. Tomasz Majka from 1a2 and Aleksandra Kwiek from class 1 g, in a colorful presentation, showed Krakow through the prism of Italian artists who created here and left permanent traces: painting, sculpture, architecture. Sara Pasek from class 1c reminded us of the Italian Christmas and introduced everyone to Befana visiting Italian children on January 6.

There was also some chat about the language. Filippo Camagni from the Jagiellonian University told about the long journey that the Italian language has traveled from Latin, through lingua volgare, dialects, the influence of the Three Florentine Crowns, to Italian, which we learn at school. Phew, finally you know why those from the south can’t get along with those from the north …

The competition for the best Italian calligram, the number game Tombola and the Great Quiz on the knowledge of Italian cuisine and civilization are attractions that could not be missed. There was no shortage of emotions, especially in the final of the quiz, when two teams were fighting for the first place in extra time. The final victory went to the team consisting of: Magdalena Błaszczyk 2c, Wiktoria Reinfuss 2c and Józef Białasik 2f. The awards were presented by the Deputy Director Iwona Fedan.

The whole was graced by the vocal performance of Aleksandra Kwiek and Filip Zięba from 1a1. Accompanied by a virtuoso guitar played by Olgierd Rusin from class 1a2, they performed the hit “Ci sarà” once sung by the legendary duo Al Bano and Romina Power. Of course, the whole hall picked up the chorus.

There is nothing else to say but alla prossima volta!
